Hi, I'm Aneesa

FULL TIME MOM, CRAFTER, JEWELLER, BEAD HOARDER, PAINTER AND PUNCH NEEDLE ENTHUSIAST

Opal and Thread was started as a way to battle postpartum depression. When I had my daughter in March 2022, I needed an outlet that would allow my creativity to thrive.

Opal and Thread was born and it became so much more than I could ever expect.

Not only has Opal and Thread helped me thrive and survive, it has inspired others around me, given me the means to invest back into my community and helped me homeschool my neurodivergent daughter.

Speaking of whom, she was beading a 2mm bead on a copper wire at the age of 18. Creativity is infectious and Opal and Thread has allowed my creativity to shine as well as those around me.

Our Brand Vision

Opal and Thread was born to combat postpartum depression and quickly became a mission to show other mothers that you can still be present and build a thriving creative business. I wanted to empower other women to wear jewellery boldly, show their uniqueness in all its messy glory and to be able to have pieces that bring them pure joy!

Our mission is to showcase a woman of colour of West Indian heritage, building a successful handmade jewellery business that also honours the creativity of other creatives whilst cultivating a safe space for mums, women of colour and especially our neurodiverse community.
